Focus on Nature, Wildlife and Rewilding

-Bringing Nature Back to the City-

Do you want to invite more wildlife into your garden? Give a home to urban hedgehogs? Keep the birds fed through winter? As a former qualified animal keeper I have a deep love for nature and the animals who also inhabit our natural spaces. Together we can make your garden and outdoor spaces a paradise for wildlife to live and thrive.

As a wildlife friendly gardener I have made a pledge not to use any harsh chemical products such as weed killers, pesticides and inorganic fertilisers. To use more eco -friendly products such as clover lawn seed and  to avoid using petrol powered tools, to plant more pollinator friendly plants and to provide habitats for wildlife.

Wildlife

Encouraging wildlife into your garden is easy and can be done by providing a few different spaces for animals to use such as:

❀ Insect / bee hotels and bee bricks  (homemade or ready built)
❀ Bug snugs - Easily made from old twigs and grass.
❀ Wild flower meadows.
Create log piles to provide natural  shelters
 Providing good plants for pollinators.
 Planting trees, bushes and shrubs.
Providing food such as hedgehog feed, bird seed and balls and nuts.
Providing ponds, water features, wetlands or bird baths.

Ponds, Wetlands and Aquatics

Have you considered having a wildlife pond or a wetland space in your garden? There are so many benefits to having even just a small pond that can encourage many different species of wild animals into your garden.

Benefits to having a pond include:

Providing a drinking spot for birds, foxes and other animals.
❀ Encouraging more insects including pollinators and feeder insects for other animals such as Hedgehogs and Slow Worms.
Encouraging native amphibians such as newts, frogs and toads as well as attracting some reptile species such as Grass Snakes.
❀ Allowing a greater biodiversity in plant varieties by providing a place for aquatic and marginal plants.
The sound of running water can promote relaxation and tranquility.
❀ An attractive garden pond does not only look appealing but can also add value to your home.

Re-wilding

Living in an urban space is no reason to not to consider allowing a patch of your outdoor space for rewilding by planting native species that are in decline.

We are currently involved in a rewilding project for a local school where we have already planted 15 native tree species!

No space for trees? No problem! You can easily plant small native species of flowers, grasses and shrubs to bring a bit of our natural wildlife back into the city.  Not only will this fill your garden with beautiful flowers and plants, it will also be your own small way of helping the planet by working with and encouraging nature.
